Krystol Internal Membrane™ (KIM®)
Concrete that is permanently waterproof is made with a hydrophilic crystalline additive called Krystol Internal Membrane (KIM).
Surface-applied waterproofing membranes are replaced with KIM, which reduces the permeability of concrete. KIM gives concrete more resilience and endurance by preventing water from passing through it and shielding it from chemical deterioration and reinforcing steel corrosion.
How Does its Works?
There is Krystol technology in KIM. When added to concrete, Krystol forms insoluble needle-shaped crystals that fill capillary pores and microcracks and obstruct the passage of water and pollutants into the concrete through a chemical reaction with water and unhydrated cement particles. Over the course of its lifetime, any moisture added to the concrete will cause crystallisation, guaranteeing long-lasting waterproofing.
Product Advantages
- Brings down the price of waterproofing
- Helps to reduce the number of weeks in construction schedules
- Lowers the expense of upkeep and repairs
- Boosts dependability and quality assurance
- Increases revenues with a larger building footprint
- NSF-certified to NSF/ANSI Standard 61 Drinking Water System Components – Health Effects, and safe for contact with potable water
- 2003 World of Concrete Most Innovative Product Award winner
Applications
KIM can be utilised in shotcrete, precast, and cast-in-place applications and is advised for all concrete that will be exposed to water pressure.
-
- Below grade parking
- Basements
- Sewage plants
- Swimming pools
- Dams
