Kryton Hard-Cem
Admixture for Abrasion and Erosion Resistance
Unlike post-applied surface treatments, which tend to delaminate over time, or high-strength concrete that is susceptible to curling and cracking, the Hard-Cem integral admixture greatly reduces the need for replacement and repair. It more than doubles the wear life of the concrete, thereby reducing its embodied carbon footprint over its lifetime.
How Does its Works?
Hard-Cem employs a unique metal-mineral microstructure that is integrally mixed into the concrete, thereby reducing project costs associated with additional floor treatments or special finishing on the construction site.
It strengthens the existing cement paste in the mix, enhancing the concrete’s resistance to abrasive and erosive forces, and eliminates the risks associated with conventional hardeners or densifiers.
This admixture significantly reduces the need for replacement and repair, more than doubling the wear life of the concrete, which in turn lowers both the lifetime cost and the lifetime carbon footprint of the concrete.
Product Advantages
- Extends the lifespan of concrete wear by at least twice, depending on conditions.
- Reduces maintenance costs.
- Improves concrete sustainability.
- Lowers both embodied and operational carbon emissions.
- Decreases installation expenses.
- Speeds up construction timelines.
- Enhances worksite safety and conditions by creating a dust-free environment.
- Improves quality control.
- Does not negatively impact concrete water demand, workability, setting time, strength development, or shrinkage.
- Suitable for horizontal, vertical, or inclined concrete.
- User-friendly and easily incorporated directly into the concrete mix.
Applications
Hard-Cem is used in various concrete types, including ready-mix, shotcrete, and precast concrete, to improve resistance to abrasion and erosion, thereby extending the concrete’s wear life. It is commonly used in the following sectors:
- Industrial
- Manufacturing and Distribution Warehouse Floors
- Service and Repair Bays
- Infrastructure & Community
- Recreation Centres
- Hospitals
- Highway Pavements and Intersections
- Bridge Decks
- Runways
- Parking Structures, Ramps, and Aprons
- Skateboard Parks
- Mining, Oil, & Gas
- Tunnels and Shafts
- Ramps
- Process Buildings
- Utility and Maintenance Buildings
- Warehouse Floors
- Agriculture
- Livestock Housing
- Storage Sheds and Tractor Garages
- Hydro
- Dams
- Sluiceways, Spillways, and Drainage Conduits
- Stilling Basins
