Context
A state-of-the-art office building with shops and restaurants, the Greater London Authority Building also houses the Mayor’s office along the River Thames, adjacent to the Tower of London.
The underground concrete tunnels and transformer room were constructed using conventional waterproofing systems, but leaks occurred through the cold joints and cracks.
Large holes were drilled through the concrete to accommodate service pipes, which were prone to leakage due to the high water pressures of the River Thames.
Solution
Kryton’s Krystol Concrete Waterproofing System was employed to repair cracks, joints, and holes in the concrete from the inside, countering the water pressure to prevent water ingress.
The drilled holes for the service pipes were filled with Krystol Baricote, followed by a slurry application of the Krystol T1 and T2 Waterproofing System, effectively preventing any water from entering the service rooms.
